404050 Private Horton George Stamp of the Royal Army Medical Corps. Son of Horton and Lavinia Stamp. Born in Bishopsteignton in 1898. He died 21st May 1920 aged 22 years at the Smyrna Sanatorium in Torquay. He is buried in St John’s Parish Church in Bishopsteignton.

Thomas James Kidston WW1

Thomas James Kidston was born in Bishopsteignton on the 28th March 1876 to John and Louisa Kidston. He was a Leading Stoker in the Royal Navy with the Service No 280054 serving on HMS Ariadne. He is described as 5’5″ with light brown hair, light blue eyes and a fair, fresh complexion. He lost his life at sea when the Ariadne was sunk off Beachy Head in July 1917.

278881 Leading Stoker Frederick John Manning of the Royal Navy HMS Doris, was the son of the late William and Elizabeth P. Manning, of 6, Fore St, Bishopsteignton. Born in Bishopsteignton on the 18th Jan 1875 he lost his life on 31 May 1918 aged 43 years and is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial.
